I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Ross Hamilton at the Sequim Public Library on Friday night but I couldn’t help noticing the ceiling. And what else does one do during a photography lecture?
Ross Hamilton
Last night one of the Olympic Peninsula’s premier photographers, Ross Hamilton, spoke at the Sequim Library. Hamilton recorded the beauty of our area for 45 years; many of the most indelible images of the Olympic Peninsula have come from his camera. Last night he shared some of these images and explained his philosophy. This was his second presentation for the library. The first was standing room only with many disappointed people turned away. Knowing this we arrived early…and were lucky to find seats at the back of the room. Ross is justifiably well loved. Sadly vision loss has ended his photo gathering but he still produces gorgeous and popular calendars.
Guys on bikes
Here’s another shot from last Saturday’s Tour de Dungeness bicycle race. Locals: the second set of this year’s races is tomorrow. Drive with care and patience if you encounter racers in the Dungeness area.
Erin go bragh
Here’s a burst of green in honor St. Patrick’s Day. This is a trail at Railroad Bridge Park during leafier days last September.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you of the Irish persuasion. Eirinn go Brach!
Avenue of the People
“Avenue of the People” is a series of metal sculptures created by Bob Stokes and installed on Laurel Street in Port Angeles.
There are over a dozen sculptures along the two block length of the street, including this pregnant woman.
The downtown area of Port Angeles is peppered with pieces of public art like this. It enlivens the area.
Predictable snap
Old wood. Rusty wire. Stuff like that’s irresistible.
Room for lavender
This is the back of one of the barns of a local lavender growing operation. It was previously called Angel Farm. Now it’s B & B Family Farm. The fields, which you cannot see here, have been rejuvenated and it’s again on the annual lavender circuit. I enhanced this grey day look a bit with Photoshop.
