Peeling

Some kinds of trees seem to be in a constant state of rejuvenation. Human skin supposedly does something like this but thankfully it’s not as dramatic.

    1. Ella, I’m not sure exactly what kind of tree this is. As close as I can tell it might be a paperbark Maple (Acer Griseum).

  1. Many of our Australian eucalyptus trees shed bark in this way in the autumn. Given that the forest is evergreen this is a sign of the change of season. Some of them are quite spectacular, shedding grey bark to reveal a red tree below which eventually turns grey as the year progresses..
