It must be the weekend…

You will spot these signs on street corners…but not on street signs. It doesn’t seem like it has been that long ago that Sequim passed an ordinance against posting garage sale signs and other flyers on city property. Actually, it seems to be working pretty well. Today’s thumbnail caught my eye as I was driving out of the neighborhood…unfortunately it was a “look alike” and not an old piece.

  1. I can never seem to pass by one of these, but I have learned thru the years that a bargain is not a bargain unless you need it!! Gotta get rid of some of my garage sale junk!!

  2. It’d be interesting to see what garage sales look like around the country/world nowadays. The ones I’ve seen around the greater Boston area (which includes a few Southern New Hampshire towns) in the past ten years or so should be called garbage sales :(.

    Have a lovely weekend, Norma.

  3. I wonder the same thing! We have been to a Church Sale in Ireland, held in one of their large auditoriums and it was much the same as here..some wonderful items at low cost. I remember lots of good sweaters heaped on a table, lots of glassware. I bought some bottles of a good smelling Irish cologne (Eire). Our friend found a Talking Pirate (pull a string and he’d say all kinds of Swashbuckler things)which was great fun flying back home from Dublin! The best item they had was HOMEMADE APPLE PIE, just heavenly tasting and only about $1.50 (our money in 1994) for the WHOLE pie! Do they have these sales other places???

  4. I don’t go to them much any more, but we are getting ready for one ourselves, hopefully in October.

BTW, the anti-spam word is “byzantine” and that’s cool because I’m writing about a Turkish author. 🙂

  5. My sister-in-law loves to go to these kinds of sales and seems to be able to find anything that anyone wants for nearly nothing. All the rest of us tell her what we need and next thing you know, she’s found it for us. She’s the best kind of personal shopper!
