Spools

The utility district has been doing work on lines around town. From the looks of it, I’m guessing they’re hardening them for winter. These spools were parked by the side of the road where they’ve been working. I found them eye-catching. They seem like gigantic versions of the thread spools in my sewing basket.

Warning

This sign got me thinking: Wouldn’t it be nice if life came with an occasional warning sign? But then I wondered this: Would we take the warning and do things differently if there were signs? What do you think? Would you turn off the proverbial road if there was a sign that said, “trouble ahead?” Or does it just make it seem more interesting?

And how many times has there been a quiet voice that whispered warnings. . .have you listened?

Happy Labor Day!

Labor Day reminds me of all the work that has come to our house from this place, Anjo Soils in Carlsborg. The results have been fine — raised garden and planting beds, mulch, gravel walkways, topsoil — but it’s meant literally tons of effort, most of it by my DIY expert husband.

Anjo is a field of possibilities.

Waiting

This new drive-through lane was constructed next to the Carlsborg Post Office earlier this year. “Oh, boy! A drive-through drop-off box! Just what we need on a rainy day!”

The contractors came and went. A newspaper stand was installed. The flag waved over the newly-paved drive. But no handy drop box arrived.

When curiosity got the best of us, we finally asked where the drop box was. It seems there was funding for the new driveway but no money for a drop box. Gives new meaning to the term “postage due.”

Theme Day-Under Construction

Today is theme day for City Daily Photo and it is also the one year mark of me posting pictures to this site.  My goal in the back of my mind when I started was one year…so mission accomplished.  Special thanks to those who visit, especially those who leave comments and let me know you are out there.  Without that, I’d probably have lost motivation.

This picture above is where Ross Dress for Less and the Grocery Outlet are coming to Sequim.
