New in the neighborhood

Alpacas! And aren’t they cute? They recently showed up at a small farm that sold last year. I’d feared that the farm might become a new subdivision but that hasn’t happened. The old farmhouse got a new coat of paint this year – a very good sign – and then came a trio of these cinnamon colored cuties.

They’re certainly pretty animals.

And they’re entertaining. This one obliged when I suggested “roll over!” (Not really. Maybe when I get to know them better.)

At a distance these well groomed guys remind me of standard poodles with long necks.

  1. We have a large alpaca farm here where they raise the animals for their “fur” because it’s so soft and resilient. We’ve visited there several times and found the animals to be mostly friendly but a few were rather ornery and you had to stay clear of them.

Whatever, as other commentators have noted, an alpaca farm sure beats another bunch of houses jammed up against one another, and the paving over paradise.

  2. I remember that little farm Kay.. phew it looks like it’s escaped subdivision. Love the alpacas, are these youngsters? Sweet little quirky faces 😊
