Fresh, please

You know the restaurant or market you go to that has the best seafood, the freshest shellfish? This may be how they get it, directly off the boat. These guys scored as the shrimp fisherman came in. And they were very pleased.

  1. Now that’s the way to “go to market”! Did you buy any? Ocala has a “farmer’s market” downtown every Saturday. We’ve been a couple of times but weren’t impressed. You may remember I posted a photo of some guy who had a boat on a trailer in the parking lot and he was selling “fresh” fish. We’re 75 miles from the Gulf of Mexico to the west and 75 miles from the Atlantic Ocean to the east and I wondered just how fresh his fish really were. Or, maybe, his story was a bit fishy? Have a great weekend!

    1. My fisherman husband (he’d shrimped in San Francisco Bay) talked shrimping with one of the fishermen and was given a bunch of coon stripe shrimp, ones that they had not caught for market. They were very good!

  2. That’s definitely the way to get your seafood! My cousin used to have a shrimp boat until he retired. We always got our shrimp from him.
