Late rose

Our native roses bloom in June. Bushes are covered with fragrant blossoms that flourish and then slowly disappear over the next couple of months. The bushes are now covered with a sea of bright red hips. This single blossom is a rare late salute to summer.

  1. What a beauty. It fascinates me, too, because I have a very similar photograph that I intend to post on Ocala, but my flower is not a rose. In fact, I don’t know what it is. Would you believe it’s in the 50s here today? Yea! Going for a run/walk (Lois) and bike ride along (me).
