Wet weather

These are two of the meadows at Dungeness Rec Area.  Lots of water everywhere and we are expecting to have rain most the weekend so doesn’t look like they’ll be drying up any time soon.

  1. After an extended drought in the SW – several years – and visiting Sequim, the moisture and availability of irrigation make Sequim very inviting and MUCH more sustainable

  2. Honestly, I have yet to see a mosquito here in Sequim!!! Bugwise we are not bothered by anything except the huge flying carpenter ants (that’s only for a couple days) and those dratted tiny gnats which seem to be in the house I don’t know how? No roaches no mosquitos!!! PARADISE.

  3. It would figure that we would get more rain on our first long weekend… It’s actually dry here right now (for the moment) hopefully you are getting some sunshine.

  4. Shanon, what great pictures. I love your story and desire to share the beauty of sequim. Where did you move from? I’ve visited once before and plan on coming next week for the marathon- staying 6 days. I’m coming from Los Angeles and hope to move to the sequim area in the next few years. Can you tell me where you shot the picts of the eagles in Feb? When I visited before in Oct ’09, I saw a few near dungeness spit and the picts, unfortunately were with a so-so camera. This time I am returning with a better camera and hope of getting good eagle pictures. Any suggestions, recommendations? Thank you in advance. I’ll be following your pictures and story. Erin

  5. Thanks Erin 🙂
I took the Eagle shots on the road above the Game Farm. You go on Ward Road, follow it up past the Game Farm and turn left on Lotzgesell Road. There will be a curve in the road and then a little road to the left called James Lotzgesell Road, it’s a dead end. Eagles often perch in the trees there. Another good area is down by the water on Marine Drive. That is where I took the series of eaglets shots.

    Good luck in the marathon.

  6. Thanks Shannon! I will get up there and check it out. I missed the eaglet pictures before but will check out marina drive as well. Keep up the great pictures! Erin
