The oldest grandson here and his friend wanted to make tamales New Year’s eve. Here is a photo of what they looked like cooking in the pot. There were not a lot left after they got through sampling, but we did have a few left over to share with friends. Postscript: The tamales are wrapped in banana leaves.

Norma, I’ve never made tamales, but eat some pretty “divine” samples in Mazatlan. The colours seem so unusual, but what do I know? What kind did you make and what gives them such an unusual colour?
Love tamales and homemade ones would be devine. What did the guys use to wrap the mixture in? It doesn’t look like corn husks.
