Our Welcome Elk

Our elk still has his Xmas red nose. He gets decorated every year.

Before you come to this sign on hwy 101, there are warning signs that are activated by collars if the elk herd gets within 20 yards of the hwy. I haven’t seen the herd cross but the sign definitely goes off now and then.

The herd definitely comes down into the valley to munch on the open farmlands.

I thought it didn’t snow in Sequim…

My husband hates snow…We were told that it on gets a dusting now and then in Sequim. Well, we have lived here 7 yrs and have had two major storms of over 9 inches. And it seems that every year we get 4-5 inches.

For me it has not been too much. Usually it snows over 5 inches only if you go 100 feet of elevation up into the Olympic mountain foothills–like in this picture.

This is the family homestead of one of my friends. There are lil cabins all over the property. It is beautiful in all seasons, but especially in winter.
