Julia’s kitchen

Through a window, a view of Julia Child’s kitchen, on display at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. Small and homey, it’s hard to imagine an elaborate meal prepped in this space…but she did.

I’m cooking more than usual and a lot of it is comfort food. Chicken and dumplings. Risotto. Pasta. What are you doing for comfort these days?

  1. Gosh! My old kitchen was this size,…when my husband went on Strike one year for 4 months, I was the BAKER and would regularly turn out about 3 batches of different cookies every day. I don’t know how I did it. YES, cooking again is popular. Spaghetti & Meatballs, tonight was BEEF STEW! Tomorrow a Curry Chicken Soup.

  2. Great shot of Julia’s kitchen. I saw it once but, it was many years ago. I’d love to see it again. I baked some cookies yesterday and last week I made chili and a French Apple cake. I’ll have to get more provisions to cook some more.

    1. Last time I looked here, Sharon, the baking aisle at the store was cleaned out — flour and other baking supplies. One friend had to go to three stores to find brown sugar.

  3. We had pasta tonight with courgettes, onions, and sausage. Eggs over fried potatoes with cheese and salsa is other favorite meal and banana bread for dessert to top it off. After eating, we go for a short walk to the shore.

  4. I have cooked a few more cakes than usual but will have to stop soon because there is no flour in the supermarket.
