Open again

Blue Mtn 1

The Blue Mountain Transfer Station is open again for regular operations, collecting trash as well as the usual recycling operations. Hours are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The building you see here replaces one that burned down last November, closing the facility for several months, then reducing collection to recycling only until recently.

A Saturday phoenix

A fire last November at the Blue Mountain Recycling Center shut down operations. A temporary office was parked where vehicles previously backed up to offload trash and recycling operations were only available on Saturdays. Update: The transfer station will resume it normal schedule on Saturday, May 24, 2014. It will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The recycling operations during the reduced hours were much the same as before the closure, including the center bin for cardboard.

Recycling

It was a busy day at the Blue Mountain Transfer Station yesterday. The station is operated cooperatively by the City of Port Angeles and Clallam County and is roughly half way between Port Angeles and Sequim. Recycling here is free and dump fees apply to waste. Bring a bucket of bottles and toss them into the glass bin for a cheap form of catharsis, or bring your paper, glass, cardboard, aluminum, and plastics bottles if you want to be a good environmental citizen.
