December 3, 2009 - Living North

2-40121.jpg

As we approach the shortest day of the year, a reminder of how much shorter they are in our region…as opposed to say, Dallas, TX.  This photo was taken at 2:40 p.m on December 1st.

PS…If you are local, stop in Karen’s Bernina shop.  Peggy, a fiber artist, will be there today with a trunk show of her work.  Peggy has followed this blog for awhile.  I look forward to meeting her.

November 13, 2009 - Rain, rain, and more rain (Repost)

rainbarrel.jpg

I am stuck at home with the flu…the next couple of days will be last years shots.

The rainbarrel was full when I went out to check it this evening.  (The rock is holding the screen down in case of wind…and we have had lots of that too)   We have not had the  flooding  seen in other parts of the state, although the Dungeness was running fast as I drove by today.  I apologize for not posting yesterday.  My yard gentlemen came to put the rest of the garden path in and get the gravel spread.  I was exhausted when they left yesterday and all I did was clean the garage and fetch.  I did hang my flag but then didn’t leave the place.  As I fell into bed last night, I thought to myself there was something not done, but I didn’t get up.

July 31, 2009 - Pretty Daisies

We caught a break yesterday.  It only hit  85 at my house…and there was a wonderful cool breeze in the evening.  I think I may venture out today.  I surely hope it lasts.

June 14, 2009 - How do you follow those eagles?

iris.jpg

Weren’t they marvelous?  I am so very thankful that Shannon filled in for me…and so very proud of her photos.  I have a feeling you may get to see more in the future.

Shannon and Eli are two very remarkable people.   They are caring, compassionate, and fun to be around.   They care about the earth, the community they live in, and the people around them.  They are readers and  animal and nature lovers.  They also “walk their talk”.    If the world were filled with Shannons and Elis, it would be a marvelous place.

This iris was one of about 20 practice photos in the backyard.  I am still dependent on others to drive me, but oh my,  am I feeling better.  In the next couple of days I’ll fill you in on the fun of having a new shoulder…and my camera back!  It was left at a friends in Seattle.  I almost felt naked.     Happy flag day and happy birthday to my niece, Jenny.
