Heceta Head Lighthouse, Oregon

In last Thursday’s post it was impossible to see the Heceta Head Lighthouse from the beach below. As we drive south on the coast it came into view. Here’s a black and white shot. It was raining at the lighthouse as I took it.

Here’s a longer view of the coast near the lighthouse, a rugged landscape typical of the northern Pacific Coast. This area gets over 70 inches of rain a year, so it was no surprise that hats and rain hoods were necessary.

  1. sorry! havent been here for too long…!
this is so pretty! i really loved our road trip along that coast……

  2. It is interesting seeing a monochrome and color version of similar images. In the black and white, the lighthouse stands out much more than it does in the color photo. I would not have expected that.

  3. One of my favorite places on the coast – I’ve taken so many photos of the lighthouse and never did I get one on a rainy day – which is highly unlikely, given that it rains there so much. When ever we drove up there it was always sunny. Lovely photos.

  4. Your black and white photo is spectacular!! Incidentally, I bought one of the baskets I mentioned earlier and thank you for the encouragement about buying it!
