The size of these roundabouts are small and it is what makes them confusing to people. I learned to use them in New Jersey and they are 4 lanes wide with a lot of traffic at a speed of 45 miles per hour. If you don’t know what lane you need to be in you may end up going around a couple of times. Just be very careful but don’t hesitate to much or you will confuse the other person using the road too.
Sometimes roundabouts serve to slow traffic. Maybe that is the reason. Check out the classy roundabouts on Seabrook Island. There is very little traffic there and the only reason, for the roundabouts, i can come up with is to slow traffic.
