Today is the 20th annual Great Olympic Peninsula Duck Derby.  Maybe if my duck was this size, my odds would improve!

It’s the last weekend for Sequim High School’s operetta, Beauty and the Beast.  I went last Friday, had perfect seas, and forgot my camera.  This weekend we were in the balcony.  While it was still a great show, my photos lack some of the clairity I would have liked.  If you are local, you still have two chances to catch the show today.   The thumbnails are of Gaston and his sidekick.   They were a hoot!

They were in a bag of bulbs I bought at Costco.  I had no idea how much I would enjoy this unusual bloom.

I think I will end this selection of parade pictures with a little political statement by one of our local farmers.

The Dungeness River salmon people came to the parade. The center is a wonderful site, offering education about the fabulous ecosystem in our area.  And yes, those balloons represent salmon eggs.  Their costumes are made from a heavy industrial carpet.  Here is a link to a previous photo.

What would a parade be without a princess and a queen?  Here we have Irrigation Princess Elisha.  The ladies travel to numerous parades and events to represent Sequim and we are very proud of them.

The thumbnails show Princess Megan and the float himself.

Sherwood Assisted Living always has a float.  This year there float went along with the theme.  These two  cuties were parked under a giant toadstool.  I think the little ones are the children of those who work at Sherwood.

The thumbnails show one of the pirates from Seafair in Seattle and one of our local tractors…Sequim has a rich farm heritage.
