On Saturday at 3:00 p.m. a small portion of those who live here showed up to have their photo made in the middle of the street in downtown Sequim.  Even with the small number of people, we all had fun…and there were lots of people with cameras.  Photographers from the Sequim Gazette and the Peninsula Daily News  even paused to compare photos.  (The Gazette link show a a time lapse photo of the whole event…if you are fast enough you can spot the lady in black and red…running in and out to take photos…that would be me.)

The trick was getting 200 + people in to some sembalance of order.  The job fell to Ernst, professional photographer in the Sequim area, who directed all of us from a boom truck belonging to Sequim Glass.    It was a fund raiser for the Irrigation Festival, a chance to run in to other folks you know, and the sun came out…just like clock work.  Sequim is famous for it’s blue hole.  The thumbnail shows part of the crowd before we are all organized into place

Enjoying a sunny afternoon at Panorama Vista Park.  Happy Easter!

Shannon (filling in for Norma)

There is something about freshly tilled soil that this old farm girl just can’t resist.

20 days till the Hood Canal Bridge closes.  See you downtown today for the community photo.

Don’t forget to check in tomorrow to see what Shannon has to share with us.

In 22 days the Hood Canal Bridge will close for 6 weeks.  A 2 hour 20 minute drive to Sea-Tac airport will become 4 and a half hours.  To prepare for this closure, the Sequim Gazette is featuring special articles over the next three weeks.  What do the ducks have to do with this?  Nothing.

In two days, Sequim will have it’s community photo taken at 3:00 p.m. in the middle of the intersection of Sequim-Dungeness and Washington.  I was there for the last one they took in 2000.  If you are local…please show up.  It will be fun!

Be sure and  to check yesterday’s posts.  Turns out it wasn’t “yes” to having the car detailed.   Several of us sappy romantics loved it.

I spotted this sign on my way to main campus yesterday afternoon and it made me smile.  Who knows….maybe Mike ask her if “she” wanted the car painted red….or would “she” like to go to dinner.   I guess the only way to find out is give them a call.

And I couldn’t be happier.  These flowers are always one of the first to catch my eye when I look out the kitchen window…and I know it’s finally arrived.

Dungeness Recreation Area

Thanks for the introduction yesterday Norma and hello to everyone :-)   I really enjoy Norma’s site and I’m also lucky enough to be her neighbor and friend.  For my first picture I thought the Dungeness Recreation Area would be perfect because that’s what brought my husband and I to Sequim.  We’d traveled from Oregon for years to camp there and had such a hard time going home that finally we just made Sequim our home.  This is the road to the Recreation area.  There is a campground, all kinds of trails to walk on, birdwatching in the refuge, and the longest natural sand spit in the United States.
