After the storm there is always clean up and repair. Road repairs were taking place on the curve just before Carlsborg Road as you head west on Old Olympic.  I’m really glad this repair is taking place.  The first day the snow and ice had all melted, I hit this pot hole on my way to work in the dark.  I thought I might have run over something. This photo was shot through a less than clean windshield. I keep meaning to stop at the car wash and then it is raining again when I think of it.

What this photo lacks in technical interest may be made up in what maybe, maybe, signals good news for many of us who struggle to get on to Highway 101 at certain hours of the day.  On 101 from Kitchen Dick Road West to Dryke, a survey crew has been working for the last couple of days.  Could it signal the long rumored  expansion of the bottleneck that starts at Kitchen Dick Road?  One can only hope, but with the state of Washington struggling with a 6 billion dollar deficit in their budget, it may never get off the ground.

Misty Day

It was a misty day Tuesday when I stopped to get this shot of the Discovery Trail Farm mini barn. A previous post can be viewed here. I love the metal design on the barn…can you tell what it is made of?

This group of mushrooms showed up in the backyard after the snow melted.  Perhaps they were there before the snow and I had missed them.  Interesting little specimens, but not being a mushroom expert, I think I’ll pass on adding them to a salad or sauteing them for lunch.

It wasn’t pouring rain yesterday, so on my way home I stopped at the bridge over the Dungeness on Old Olympic. The Dungeness was running bank to bank. Fortunately we haven’t suffered the wide spread flooding others in Western Washington have experienced. The thumbnail was on the south side of the bridge in the shade.

Rain

What a difference a couple of days can make! Although there was still a small pile of snow in my front yard, the rain from this “pineapple express” is threatening flooding all over Western Washington. It was too dangerous to stop and take a picture of the Dungeness…so I settled on this ditch by Robin Hill Farm. It’s all run off and the water was moving.

Happy Birthday, Brother Tim!

To the south of The Lodge is a nice grassy area.  The picture reminds me it’s much nicer in spring and summer.
