It’s the time of the year that I love…I get to watch my grandkids play soccer!  This is Babygirl’s first year…so of course we need new shoes and a ball.  At her age, they only play three on three and much shorter quarters.  It’s all in good fun and the kids get to learn their skills.  Note the very small goal in the thumbnail.  Now the bigger kids. second thumbnail, play a more sophisticated game….but not the game the oldest one plays.  I truly appreciate all of the coaches who give of their time to teach the children this great game.

My brother took this photo.  Today I have to go back to work.  Instead I just want to fly around and enjoy the scenery.  Next week, I’ll be back in the swing of it and raring to go, but not today.

The big guy

If you stop at Wildbirds on your way to Sequim, you are liable to find this big guy laying on top of the counter taking a nap.  He is personable and loves looking out the windows at all the birds.  A sign posted on the door states, “No matter what he may tell you, please don’t let the cat out.”

We didn’t have a normal summer…and it has finally showed up.  While my brother was here, we stopped at Port Williams Lavender on one of our drives.  I was surprised to see lavender there still not harvested.  I guess they saved it for those of us who still like seeing purple.

We went to the Family Farm on Old Olympic last Friday so my brother could take pictures of dahlias, but this sunflower caught my eye…then I saw the bees, busy at work.

In my family there is a tradition of helping you have the first bite of your birthday cake as soon as you blow out the candles…they push your face in the cake.     See thumbnails for evidence.  This was not a usual tradition among many of my guests and they had a great time with it.  I  confess I ask the older grandson…not the younger one, to do the honors.

Last Dance

after.jpg The last dance came too soon, even though my feet hurt.  You know you are loved when you have family and friends such as I am blessed with.  The hall was cleaned, cars loaded and we all went home happy, contented and so glad we had this time together.    Thanks for all the good wishes!  I am taking my brother back to the airport tomorrow and I’ll catch up with you all very soon.
