siding.jpg The siding went on the garden house this weekend.  My dear  neighbors, Shannon and Eli helped.  Shannon shared her husband, Eli, for the whole weekend with my grandson and  the work went much quicker.  Eli is a master carpenter, so it was a learning situation for my grandson too.  I am truly excited to have a special place to store my lawnmower, pots, bird seed, etc.  It makes me smile.  Thank you, Shannon and Eli!

graduation1.jpg Saturday I had the pleasure and honor of attending graduation at Peninsula College.  Technically the main campus is in Port Angeles, but I’m rationalized by stating I was there to see seven of my OG students graduate, three of whom were from Sequim.  It gives me a great deal of pleasure to see the happy faces of students who have worked hard, their families who have supported them, and the faculty and administration who joined in their joy.  You could buy flowers from the bookstore staff to present to your graduate and the Kenmore Pipe Band piped the graduates in to their seats.  Fun time!

help-with-the-weeds.jpg Rent a cow!   This little guys pasture is right along part of the Discovery trail.  He has managed to get his head through the fence and is munching on something tasty.  I’ve noticed, as I drive along this route, he and his buddy, shown in the thumbnail, hang out together, and seem to be quite content.

bell-street-bakery.jpgI was surprised and delighted to read in the Sequim Gazette that a bakery is coming to town.  I am also pleased to see they are using an existing building.  It’s an ideal location.  The story is interesting.  If you have time, give it a glance.  The flowers in the thumbnails were across the way in front of the yarn shop.

wild-daisys.jpg They grow wild, reproduce easily, and seem to be doing really well this year…perhaps our mild spring.  Here is a close up on another photo blog.   P.S.  Today was the last day with students.  Tomorrow after I close my classroom down…vacation begins!

scotch1.jpg As you drive Highway 101, you will see many fields and areas of yellow blooms.  When I lived in Redding, CA., we called it scotch broom.  It has a pretty bloom…see thumbnail, but for those who suffer from allergies, it can be a problem.  It also spreads….easily, and is considered a noxious species in Washington.

roof.jpg  I’m on my way home and it suddenly dawns on me I have no post for today!  I pull over as I round the corner on Dryke and admire the progress on the new building I mentioned in my June 10th post.   As you can see they are moving right along…and the guys are wondering “why is that lady taking our picture?”  Hopefully the next time I forget they will have more progress and I will once again be saved from missing a post.     I need to take a walk again and get some good pictures.  School will be out on Wednesday…maybe Thursday.
