The summer Tuesday night music sessions at the James Center for Performing Arts next to Carrie Blake Park were kicked with off last night with the addition of a movie. Despite the windy and chilly air, there was a good crowd for the music of Deadwood Revival, a local favorite. Only the hearty of soul and good grandmas (like me) stuck it out to see Daddy Day Camp, with Cuba Gooding, Jr. I wouldn’t miss an evening with my grandkids no matter how cold it was. Next week you can listen to the music of Locust Street Taxi, billed as Horn Driven Eclectic Rock. The next movie, Surfs Up, is July 29th. A complete schedule of the music and movies can be found on the city’s website. Grandma, who can almost say she has never heard any music she didn’t like, will probably make all of them. The grandkids may wait till the next movie.
I stopped to take the photo of the parent and child flying a kite in one of the meadows in Robin Hill Farm County Park when this biker flashed in front of me on the Discovery Trail. I have featured photos of both places several times on my blog. I am bringing it to the attention of local viewers today because tomorrow evening there is an opportunity for public input at a Parks meeting at the Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleary Rd., at 6:00 p.m. At that time the County Parks will be make a presentation regarding a proposed 18 hole disc golf course to be constructed in Robin Hill Farm Park. After the presentation, there will be an opportunity for public input. I plan on attending this meeting. Until a neighbor brought this proposal to my attention, I didn’t have a clue. Currently the idea of a golf course in a farm/woodland park setting does not seem logical, but I plan to go, listen, and then offer my opinion. I would invite other interested Sequim residents to also attend.
