alderwood-bistro.jpg Yum!  It’s a great place to go to lunch or dinner with a friend.  They utilize local produce, their food is interesting and the folks are friendly.  Their website lets you look at the menu and get a close look at what is served.   Housed in a what was once a home, I first knew this building as the Eclipse Cafe, owned and operated by dear friends, Tom and Lay Wells.   Tom, retired, bought the cafe for his wife, Lay Yin.  There was one thing on the menu each day and they were only open for lunch three days a week.  You could call up and find out what they were serving or show up, take pot luck, and hope they had some left.  They never lacked for customers.

first-fed.jpg Continuing  my walk down Sequim Dungeness  I am  featuring shots of First Federal today.  This photo was taken before they unveiled their new logo and name.   “First Federal is the only locally owned and managed savings and loan on the North Olympic Peninsula.”

bell2.jpgI interrupted my walk down Sequim Dungeness on May 3rd so I might bring you events regarding the Irrigation Festival.  I am now resuming that walk and today featuring shots of the manhole cover on the corner of Spruce and Sequim Dungeness.  When writing this post, I found an interesting site on the history of the Bell System.  I would be curious as to when the manhole cover was first placed.   Maybe I need to investigate.Â

lavendar.JPGSorry for the late post…too much fun at the parade yesterday.  Happy Mother’s Day from the Lavenderlady.

cat.jpg When Baby Girl and I went to the dairy to pet the baby calves (yesterday’s post), she spotted this critter hiding under the porch. I’m off to the parade today….more later. And Happy Mother’s Day to my friends in Mexico.  (Mother’s Day in Mexico is always on the 10th of May.)

calf21.jpgWe are lucky to still have a dairy in our area that does things right.  The Dungeness Valley Creamery  features certified raw jersey milk.  Baby girl and I visited not too long ago and got to pet the baby calves.

carnival.jpg They are back!  The carnival arrived Tuesday evening…they set up Wednesday, and they open for business tonight.  I confess I took this photo last year.
