I saw this sign yesterday and agree with the sentiment. To often I hear people complain instead of express what they are thankful for. Family and where I live are two of my many blessings.

The sign did catch my interest, however. Do they really want fir “bows” or fir “boughs”. I’ve often said I got through college with a dictionary under one armpit, so I am hesitant to point fingers. I read it as “bow”….something you put on a package. Perhaps someone else reads it as “bow”, what you do when you bend at the waist. Perhaps I should call them. Maybe it wouldn’t fit with “boughs”. Perhaps they did it to get my attention. What do you think?

Our Sequim Roosevelt Elk are famous, or infamous, depending on whether they have visited your yard. Symbols for the elk are popping up all over. This one is on the sign for a small strip mall on the west end of town, close to Wal-Mart.
The thumbnail shows a sign that is located in the downtown area, close to Seal Park.

On my walk downtown Sunday evening, I spotted this piece. I’m not sure I would buy it for my home, but it certainly was well lit and caught my eye.

Next door to Hurricane Ridge Coffee Company is a very nice store called The Good Book. It was nice to see their window display had not yet caved in to the Christmas season.

Seed Farm

Last month I posted a photo of the seed-cone-picker at the Weyerhaeuser Seed Cone Farm in Sequim. I was shocked to drive by this last week and see one of the groves being cut down. I don’t know how long a seed cone tree lasts nor have I been able to find out why they were being cut down. I am sure there is a good business reason, but it made me sad.

I started to title it “Tacky Tree” and then thought, perhaps someone has already bought this one… They play music. It reminds me of a tacky metal tree of my youth. Fortunately it didn’t stick around long, but as a collectors item, it might be worth a fortune.
