According to Wikipedia, “4-H in the United States is a youth organization administered by the Cooperative Extension System of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) with the mission of “engaging youth to reach their fullest potential while advancing the field of youth development.”[1] The four “H”‘s stand for Head, Heart, Hands, and Health. The organization serves over 9 million members in the United States from ages 5 to 21 in almost 100,000 clubs[2]. 4-H clubs and related organizations now exist in many other countries as well; the organization and administration varies from country to country.”
The Clallam County Fair gives 4-H youth a chance to share with their community what they have learned. This sign is on the side of the “Cat Barn”. Do you have a 4-H group in your community?

Technically, the Clallam County Fair Grounds are in Port Angeles, but since it is a County Fair, I hope I will be forgiven for posting something that is not right in Sequim. I was there on Sunday to drop off my photos and 2 quilts. This lady kindly allowed me to take a picture of her and the dollhouse she built. In the Home Arts Building, you will find quilts, crocheted items, cross stitch, clothing and more on one side…on the other side you will find hobbies of all sorts. You could spend a half a day just looking at all of the things folks have brought to share.

This is a repost of one of the thumbnails of the Volunteers at Carrie Blake Park post. I just could not get myself out of the house today.

it’s hard to travel down a country road in this area without coming across rolls of hay. I remember when I came back from Germany in 1983. As the airplane started to land, I remember seeing these in fields with white covers…took me awhile to figure out hay had a new shape.

It is time to get your projects ready to enter the fair. I usualy put a couple of quilts in the fair and for the last few years have entered photos. It is hard choosing only four. My choices are generally ones that I like…not necesarily ones that judges would choose…and that is O.K. I have nine printed…now which ones are will I enter? I’ll let you know what I choose.
