Master Gardeners Petals to Pathways

The garden tour was quite an experience. I ran in to people I knew from various groups; lost my ticket after my third stop…went back, and sure enough someone had turned it in; missed one farm simply because I over scheduled my day; and arrived home, tired but with lots of ideas for low budget landscaping in my back yard.
After 307 posts, I have finally figured out how to add thumbnails in a way that you can click on them and they will enlarge. I’m a bit, slow…but getting there! I’ll be posting more this week.

Nice flower picture. Interesting post about visiting other gardens to see what grows and how others do things. I used to be a part of something similar when we had a Japanese garden, with a pond, water, and island, plus a curved red bridge. People showed up with children in tow and not always controlled. So it was more of an annual disaster than anything worth repeating.

I like these garden and homes tours. They can be a wealth of ideas, even if just to get you thinking about unusual ways to do something. How are your lavender varieties coming along?

Yes, I always let the seed pods develop fully and some of them begin to shed their seeds. Then I pulls the seeds off in my hand and put them in the shed or shop on newspaper to dry out. After a while or when I think about it again, I gather the seeds and put them in plastic pill bottles that can be sealed or a lid that turns tight. Only do this after the seeds are thoroughly dry. If you let them on newspapers in a shop or shed where sun can strike them then they will be dry enough for the pill bottles. I only open them in the spring when I am ready to plant them. And then I try to scatter them on top of the ground as if they had just fallen there from a flower. So far I have always had good luck this way. I use the white plastic pill bottles and write the name on it with a marker.
