Here come the rafters!

Every morning as I drive to work, I think “When are they going to get this house done?” Today the rafters arrived. They had the road blocked, but I got close enough to view the rafters moving through the trees.

Those trees, stately, standing tall and straight, have seen good days come and go and now, they are waiting on “progress” in the form of human beings who will not only pour chemicals all over the landscape but who will also pollute the land and water in ways these trees never knew was possible. For the forest around this new home, life is about to change forever. Is it sad? I think so. But to the new homeowners, they are moving into a slice of paradise they are neither designed for or probably don’t care much about. Sad. So sad. But who would know if they did not come here and take a look at your photograph today. It tells a story. How we all choose to interpret it is a different story.

Looks like they are being pretty conscientious about not disturbing things any more than they have to.
I built my home from about fifty percent recycled pine.
My yard is natural and I have watched many new trees grow.
Those home-owners are fortunate to have such a chance.
Many people now-days do appreciate the delicate nature of such places.

I think Carl’s observations are right on the mark: how wonderful that the construction is taking care not to disturb the surrounding trees. I love the idea of the rafters levitating!!

Springtime seems the right time to wrap up the building, to move in, to make a new home.
