I took this shot from a friends back deck. We don’t have a majastic skyline, until you look to the south and see the mountains. The view to the north is equally spectacular if you are in the right spot and can see the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Day 6 of my vacation Today I get to see one of my nephews play baseball. He is a senior in college, and quite a young man. (no prejudice here) He will graduate from college this spring. I am not sure what his plans for the future are…but today I get to find out. After the game, we will head back to Elk City. My brother is a pastor of a small church and needs to be ready for his sermon bright and early.

These flowers were blooming on a bush beside the administration building for the Sequim Public Schools . The building directly behind is “The Performing Arts Center”. This is where I often go to listen to music.

Day 5 of my vacation Road trip begins! My mom will arrive at about 7-7:30 and we will take off for Elk City, Ok, via Dumas and Gruver. Check your maps and see if you can tell me some the towns we will drive through. We will arrive in Elk City around 11. After lunch with my brother and sister-in-law, we leave Mom in Sayer, Ok. for a wedding of a dear friend, and we head to Bartlesville, Ok, for dinner with nephews and a niece. Somewhere in there we are suppose to watch a baseball game, and another one tomorrow.

sunbfl1.jpg One of the many hats I wear is that of quilter and appreciater. This beautiful quilt was on the garden tour. You would have thought I could have gotten the picture without a thumb in it, but apparently not.

Day Four of my vacation. Today is my last day in Stratford, TX. This is a farming and petroleum area. They even grow sunflowers here and they are beautiful!

P.S.  We had tornado warnings, thunder and lightning last night.  Thankfully we didn’t have to take shelter

I thought this was a clever use of an old garden gate. It was one of the many things I admired on a garden tour.

Day Three of my vacation. I am now in the Texas Panhandle. Today will be spent mostly with relaxing, visiting, and inspecting my sister’s new hardwood floors. She and her husband are avid remodelers…and darn good at it too!

Everyday when I look outside, I see more and more birds returning to my garden. I wish I could tell you this lovely abode was in my backyard, but sadly it belongs to another.

Day 2 of my vacation. I should have flown out of Seatac on my way to Amarillo, TX, via Houston at 7:30 a.m. Once I arrive at approximately 4:30 p.m., my sister will meet pick me up and take me to Stratford, TX. Can you find Stratford on a map?

passthemic.JPG
I missed the first two nights, but last Friday was the finals for the “Pass the Mic” competition. Wow! amazing that we have so much talent in this community. This young lady is a High School Senior and won third place. I was disappointed to discover I did not have a picture of the winner. I guess I was just mesmerized by her voice. The event was sponsored by the Sunrise Rotary Club of Sequim. They had a silent auction and a live auction to support the charitiable work they do in our community and internationally. Great organization!

I’m traveling for the next two weeks (spring break). Hopefully I will have internet access…but then if you have been to my home town, you would know why that is not always possible. Thanks to Word Press, I will be posting everyday. I thought about doing a “Where in the World is the Lavenderlady” posting each day, but I think I will just give you highlights of what is suppose to be happening. Today i am suppose to leave about 9:30 a.m and head for Seattle, via some shopping malls. I need some new socks, shoes, and unmentionables. I will stay in Seattle tonight at a Park and Fly hotel. Do they have those in your country?

Every morning as I drive to work, I think “When are they going to get this house done?” Today the rafters arrived. They had the road blocked, but I got close enough to view the rafters moving through the trees.
