Here in Sequim, pumpkins of assorted sizes, shapes and colors are starting to show up in stores. I was particularly struck by the shade of these when I ran across them today at the local country store, Sunny Farms. Locals shop here for the freshest veggies, fruits, and meat. I like the way the people in the deli take care of me. Occasionally I will have quilters come and stay for a weekend. I call their sandwich orders in and then go and pick them up in about 30 minutes. My guests love them…no fuss, no muss. Their soups are excellent, also.

If the house hadn’t been in the way, you could have seen all the way to Vancouver Island. I was on the campus of our Community College in neighboring Port Angeles today and was struck by this view as I got out of my car. Living in Sequim, we are only 17 miles from Victoria as the crow flies. I go there every time I can afford it.

A few years ago, this really cool bus stop was built in front of the True Value/Co Op in downtown Sequim. The rock was taken from the road work that was done when the by pass was built. At that time there was concern that downtown might dry up and blow away. it didn’t happen. Some of us think the traffic is almost as bad as it was before the by pass went in.

Many are falling down, but this beauty is a working barn on a working farm. Located at the intersection of Kitchen-Dick and Old Highway 101, it always gives me a thrill to see it change with the seasons. If you aren’t sure how a barn does that…then you didn’t grow up on a farm.

Sitting in one of those lawn chairs with your shades on and a nice latte watching the world go by? Over the Fence is a premier garden shop in our area. If you are looking for the different and unusual, this is the place to come.

When I took this photo, my plan was to occasionally put in photos from some of my favorite restaurants. 101 is right on Highway 101 in downtown Sequim. The restaurant is decorated in a 50′s motif…and the food is just about what you would expect…genuine American. I like to go there with my kids for breakfast. My grandson requested we go there for his birthday last year..he swears they have the best bacon in town.
The picture doesn’t look like it, but this is a sign about 10 foot tall, suspended on a pole above the restaurant. When I downloaded the photo, I thought it looked more like a emblem on a wall.

This dancer is wearing a costume from the State of Vera Cruz. The cost of the costumes is off set by donations made to the group. They danced for an hour and a half. Before and after the dance, Mexican food was available. It was an awesome evening and a thrill to see so many of the performers that I know.
