The region surrounding and including incorporated Sequim (pronounced “Skwim”) has a population of roughly 26,500 and is located on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State U.S.A. The city is about two and a half hours travel time west of Seattle, including a ferry ride across Puget Sound. It is bounded on the north by the Strait of Juan de Fuca and to the south by the Olympic Mountains. The area is famous for its location in the rain shadow of the Olympics, which generally moderates local rainfall compared to other regions in western Washington. They sometimes call it the Banana Belt, but rainshadow is more accurate. Sequim has 1/3 or less inches of rain compared with Seattle,  but trust me, its still cool here.  We get an occassional few inches of snow, and highs rarely get above 80.  But with little day-time rain (it mostly rains at night here-isn’t that convenient?) it a GREAT place to to get out and aobut.  I can hike, paddle, and bike almost every day within minutes from my house.  Oh yes, and the photo opportunities…they speak for themselves!

The temperate climate is ideal for growing lavender and growers host an annual Lavender Weekend the third weekend in July. Learn more about this beautiful place we call home as you scan our photos.
