Rufous hummingbird

Right now is the season for hummingbirds. We saw at least six on a walk the other day. Perched, chasing each other, or flying in big, showy mating swoops they’re beautiful to watch. Catching them still is another matter entirely.

This one flashed its iridescent red feathers as it looked from side to side. The color is stunning and as hard to catch as a hummer sitting still.

  1. Wow! I’m impressed with your camera and you! I’ve never gotten a good shot of a hummingbird – they’re way too quick. But these are beautiful as is the bird! Kudos to thou!

  2. What a sweet little bird Kay, amazing colours. I know what you mean though, the tiny birds flit about so fast, you were so lucky to catch these shots ✨
