Anytime is meal time for our local deer. Grass, shrubbery, flowers. Anything’s pretty much on the menu, including items that the Sunset Western Garden Book says are “deer resistant.” The young ones, especially, haven’t read that.

They seem so peaceful when grazing.
The white tailed variety got into my parents’ vegetable garden one summer and took care of all the beans. Dad said that was the last time he’d ever plant vegetables.
I’m beginning to believe there’s no such plant that’s “deer resistant”, and that colourful flowers only attract them to a fresh meal!
Can’t begrudge those beauties a square meal, tho, can we?!
