  1. Kay, I don’t believe there is even one MD taking new patients in all of Sequim. Literally not one. We’ve checked. It’s just something people should know who wish to move here.

  2. That’s not good to have such limited medical personnel and facilities. As for cancer…I would think that anyone with cancer would get to the nearest facility that is linked to the National Cancer Institute. Cancer requires the absolute best doctors and equipment and the latest in other technology. There are currently 69 such hospitals in the U.S. Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa is one of those as is Johns Hopkins, M.D. Anderson (Houston), Mayo Clinic, and others, one being the Univ. of Washington. There’s also one in Portland.

Both of us having had cancer have come to know many people who were really screwed by doctors (oncologists and surgeons) who didn’t know what they were doing.

  3. Having complete medical facilities and care is wonderful and I cannot imagine where all the young doctors are going. We are blessed with top medical care in the Twin Cities and are spoiled. I understand totally why lack of care can be a serious consideration for relocating. If there would be medical care on my beloved Washington Island, Wi I would retire there; as it is now, I’m always a little anxious when we vacation there because of that fact. Medical evacuation can break the bank if it becomes necessary.
