Superbowl Fever…nope…CHAMPS!!

For anyone not a sports fans living in the U.S., today is the Superbowl football tournament, the end-of-season blowout game for the two top teams. This year the Seattle Seahawks are playing and local fans, known as the “12th man” (acknowledging the value of fans as part of the team), are seriously excited. This collage is a mini-sampling of team support on the Olympic Peninsula. My friend Sylvia, whose hand graces the lower right corner above, proudly sports a Hawks manicure and shared her selfie with me. Quoting Sylvia and most anyone around here: “Go Hawks!”

Update Final score: 43-8 Seahawks!

  1. haha! good luck!
so funny how, as soon as you dont live in the US anymore, you kind of are not aware of these things anymore. just by reading the news and american blogs i sort of remain updated, but usually after the fact. its a really different experience when living there…
although we watched the superbowl only once, and i was quite bored… 😀

  2. It’s hard for me to choose this year; I’d rather be cheering the Packers! Interesting that the sport is so popular since it is so violent. Our past stellar quarterback for the Vikings in a recent interview said that he would NOT want his son to play in the NFL because it has changed so much e.g. players have bulked up and are Huge and tough. How’d you like to be at the receiving end of a kick-off?!

  3. Go Hawks! And I’m not even that big of a football team, but you can’t help but get excited – this state has gone crazy. One grandson’s school formed a giant 12 on the playground, with all the students forming the 12 and a helicopter flew over to get a photo of it. The whole state is in a frenzy – it is kind of fun – and of course the super bowl party at our daughter’s house this afternoon. I’m making deviled eggs with strips of green pepper to represent the lacings on the football – so we’ll be eating football deviled eggs. Go Hawks! I’d say I’ve seen well over 1,000 signs and banners just this week – I told you it was a frenzy. Even a police car had one of those little flags that sticks up out of the window – and the space needle is Seahawks colors – Go Hawks!!

  4. I don’t think any of this matters. I just read an article which said surveys show that about 50% of our citizens believe that God decides the outcome of the SB. Is that sad or what? Welcome to the 16th century!

Enjoy the game, anyway. Bet on the Seahawks ’cause I just saw a Seahawk banner hanging from the clouds. Amen.

  5. I would rather see the Patriots in the game, but that didn’t happen this year. I will be watching just to see what happens, but maybe with just a little bit of cheering on Peyton Manning.

  6. I’ve learn several just right stuff here. Definitely value bookmarking for revisiting. I wonder how much effort you put to create this sort of magnificent informative site.
