This is a Brewer’s blackbird (Euphagus cyanocephalus), one of our very common birds. This one saw my camera, turned and said, “Be sure to get my good side” as he waited to hear the “click.”

I don’t want to worry you, but the director to which the bird referred was not DeMille. It was Alfred Hitchcock. Did you not hear that evil cackle?
Nope, I was thinking of “Hollywood Boulevard,” not “The Birds.” Probably should have given a nod to Hitchcock, but I was thinking of close-ups. . .
