Little observer

This little bird kept hanging around and watching us while we were watching the eagles nest across the road.  What kind of bird is it?

  1. It’s beautiful!
One day last year while I was at work, a fledgling Killdeer knocked itself out flying against a window. We located Mom (or was it Dad?), and I brought Baby closer to her, and further away from the office building and road. Mom promptly developed a broken wing and tried to lure us away. We cooperated, but watched from far off. It was a very happy reunion.

  2. Your commentThey love playing under overhead sprinklers. I used to have a small flock that showed up whenever ours were turned on. They are quite vocal as well and enjoyable to watch.

  3. I looked it up, too. Charadrius vociferus is the Latin name for the Killdeer. And I have also seen the broken wing behavior Kibz mentions. I like hearing their call.
