Oops

On Tuesday night, someone drove through the front of our Safeway.  The article today on it said the 82 year old man hit the gas instead of the brake and couldn’t stop in time.  It happened at a busy time of day so I’m surprised and glad that no one got hurt.

  1. It would seem that “Safeway” wasn’t too safe after all! This happens every once in awhile here. The area of Ocala where we live is comprised largely of old folks, now retired…and just the other day, I saw someone pull out of a parking lot, going the wrong way on a one-way street, then turn right in front of a truck to cross over to another parking lot. It was just pure luck that the driver didn’t get killed twice!

Nice to hear from you…hope your New Year is off to a great start!

  2. Shannon, the other place that worries me is the Arby’s. If you haven’t been in go sometime! They have a really nice dining room and spectacular photos of Eagles on the walls (although as I sit chewing on my sandwich I don’t like to look at the eagle shots killing their prey!) Danger though…as you sit there notice how the parking spots slant down toward the building. They REALLY REALLY need to place some of those metal posts all along that side. An accident waiting to happen.

  3. I don’t know what the case was with this accident. Like I said in the post, I’m just glad no one was hurt.
Driving in Sequim can be a mixture of laughing and being scared. Last week at Sunny Farms I pulled in from the 101 and there were cars backed up and it was from this elderly lady taking forever to back out of her spot. She’d back up just a tiny bit even though she had lots of room, then pull forward, back up, pull forward, it went on and on. Finally she made it out and I pulled in next to another guy that was waiting behind her and he said to me I can’t believe she’s still on the road. I see that often, people who shouldn’t be on the road. I’ve had people just pull right out in front of me without even looking for traffic. I’ve had several near misses, sometimes in the same day.
I think it would be really hard to get to that stage in life where you have to think about not driving any more. To lose that freedom and independence and face the reality of things. But when you are putting the lives of others in jeopardy by your driving, it’s time to make that decision.
Pat, I haven’t been to Arby’s. I’ll have to check out the parking spots when I drive by there next time to see what you are talking about.

  4. Best deal at Arby’s is the Toasted Sub….2 for 5.00..hearty enough for me & husband to have for our dinner! The Spicy Italian is the best, then the Turkey Bacon. YUM! (and try the Chocolate Turnover for 1.00 this is my undoing….I need to DIET in the New Year)
