Today should be a county wide day of mourning

Our libraries have been closed as a cost cutting measure.  The dedicated employees have been given an unpaid furlough.  It’s hard to imagine….but it is true.  It’s been a long time since I’ve lived in a town without a library…even for a week.

  1. It’s a terrible sign of the times! Our country’s libraries have always been a source of pride for me because of the availability of materials. The very first thing I did when I came to Santa Fe, even for a short winter visit, was to find the library and get a card, and we have used it liberally since then! Because of it’s outstanding Southwest collection, it’s going to be hard to leave next week!! I am so sorry that your town’s economics make it necessary to close the library, even for a short time!
