The river rages

It wasn’t pouring rain yesterday, so on my way home I stopped at the bridge over the Dungeness on Old Olympic. The Dungeness was running bank to bank. Fortunately we haven’t suffered the wide spread flooding others in Western Washington have experienced. The thumbnail was on the south side of the bridge in the shade.

  1. You really captured the river.

For those not from this area, normally the river can seem almost small, as it winds its way far away from the banks. First time I saw it, I thought it was just a creek, this photograph shows what it can grow into.

  2. Thank goodness you are not flooding like Western Washington. Brother Mike called early yesterday morning to see if you had been flooded. I said “hu?” Glad somebody keeps up with the national weather!

  3. I love your blog and city! I was there last Sept and have a lot of photos of the lavender fields. I’d love to live in Sequim some day…

    Best,

    Nancy

  4. Friends in Camas showed a picture that looks the same of the river at the base of their backyard. So much powerful water corsing by.
Great capture Norma. I am glad you are safe.

  5. Yes, the Dungeness has really been rolling. My folks tell me it’s been higher in previous years a while back, but I must say I was impressed with the volume, with all the rains and snow melt. We are indeed very lucky to be high and dry here. So many other places in WA are really a mess right now, lots of devastation. So very sad.
